Here are some ideas I came up with to give the frogs in my garden somewhere to hibernate.

A wooden shipping pallet is a great starting point for making a hibernaculum. If you don’t have one, some offcuts lying around the back yard can be a great source material.

Here’s my pallet that I built from offcuts, first from underneath…

I dug a hole big enough to fit my pallet with enough space in front to leave an opening where frogs can enter.

Finally I covered the hernaculum with earth and fallen branches,

Here’s another hibernaculum I made using some pices of a broken plant pot covered with earth.

This one is made from a loose pile of wood covered with dead leaves and twigs.
